Jim Tucker, Ph.D.

Jim Tucker, M.D., is a psychiatrist at the University of Virginia Division of Personality Studies, where his research focuses on children who claim to remember previous lives. He obtained his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of North Carolina and his psychiatry training at the University of Virginia. He is board-certified in general psychiatry as well as child and adolescent psychiatry, and following his training, he had a private practice in psychiatry. Tucker has published articles on children who claim to remember previous lives, and is continuing the work of Ian Stevenson who will retire in the summer of 2001. In addition to his work at the Division of Personality Studies, Dr. Tucker is currently the Acting Director of the Division of Child and Family Psychiatry at UVa, but he plans to give up those duties this summer to work full-time on his research.
